Trip Reports

George Washington Canal - Oct 6, 2019

Quoted TextSix paddlers (Alex D, Anna N {PFD}, Barb B, Gordy L, John S & Wayne McD) enjoyed a moderate run (2.76') on the GW canal under cloudy skies. Before the put-in, Barb proudly displayed the ACA Green Paddle award that CCA won this year for our efforts to keep the river open during golfing events at the Trump course. The award was a handsome clear plastic plaque; some were disappointed that it wasn't an actual, you know, green paddle. The log at the entrance to the canal that contributed to a near-fatal spill a few weeks ago has now been cut away (thank you, Calleva!). However, diagonal rapid has debris scattered throughout and the woodpile below jacuzzi rapid still blocks that channel. The trip was well escorted by several great blue herons.
