A beautiful, sunny day - temps in 70s. Crossed to the Virginia side to find five young kayakers from Calleva surfing just below the lip of Dam #2. - We were eight: TL: Wayne, Gordy, Tim, Alan, Pam, Barb, John S, and Alf. Had a tipover on a submerged log, then John & Alf went down to try to improve a passage through the years' long log jam below Jacuzzi. More work possible when the level drops. C&O Canal is at minimal level, but still passable.
NB - at 9:00 on Sat, VL parking is almost full. Turtle count 'way low - 2? 4?
