Goose Creek is in Loudoun County just before Leesburg. This is a 4.5 mile Class II-III trip. As of 5:00 pm Tuesday the level is 1,100 cfs. but by Thursday it'll be 650-900 cfs [min 180] - So plenty of water. The Sycolin Rd Bridge put-in has limited parking so please meet at the take out to set shuttle. The put-in is a bit muddy, so be prepared. The first mile is a reservoir with a carry around the dam, then the moving water section.
There are two rapids of note:
Golf Course Rapids is a Class II-III (Grove) or Class II(+) (Ettinger) (The Golf Course is now being replaced by condos!!?!?)
No Name Rapids is a Class II series of waves.
We will meet at 10:30 a.m. at the take out: Kephart Bridge Landing, 43956 Riverpoint Drive, Lansdowne VA 20176, in a subdivision off Riverside Pkwy. Enter between two low stone pillars and drive down to the parking lot near the creek.
The weather is predicted to be in the mid 70s, overcast but no chance of rain.
Bring a lunch as we will probably stop at Gold Course rapids to eat and surf.
