The rain today (Friday) and, I presume, Saturday, has brought the Rapp up a bit, such that we are likely to have +6" or more of water on Sunday on the 4.5 mile Remington to Kellys Ford section. It has been hovering at 0 to +1" for some days, but it is not a very pleasant run at this level because the entire river is shallow and, for open boat canoeists, one's paddle blade hits bottom for more or less the full run. But with 6" or so above zero, the run is very pleasant--basically flat water plus a final mile or so of Class II-II+ (with one rapid perhaps as high as III-).
Accordingly, I am willing to lead a trip, meeting at the putin at the "new" river access at the small park at the end of River Rd/Willis Ave (a small fork branching off of Bus. Rte 15/29 just past the Andes Market in Remington) at 11 AM on Sunday, March 26, 2023.
Paddlers interested in this trip should contact me (see below); because the water is still cold, the trip should be for paddlers having Low Intermediate skills or better (in warmer conditions, this is a great Novice run!); bring a lunch.
