Thursday Paddle - Rappahannock, Remington to Kelly’s Ford
Tim Tilson will lead a trip on the Remington to Kelly’s Ford section of the Rappahannock. This is a 4.5 mile class II (+) run. There is 3 miles of flat water followed by a mile + of a rock garden with two major rapids (Sandy Beach and Piggley Wiggly). The latter can easily be avoided. The water level is projected to be around 600 cfs against a 0 of 250. The weather is projected to be cloudy but in the 70s. Bring a lunch. Remington Drug store is now open so there may be an ice cream stop afterwards.
We will meet at the Put In by the bridge on Business Rte 15/29 in Remington at 1030. For those unfamiliar with this put in, meet Tim at the McDonald’s in Opal [10068 James Madison Highway (Rte 15/29) Warrenton VA 20186] at 1015.
Please contact Tim Tilson at hmslydia@msn.com, or 703-273-9436 (land line home) to let him know you are coming and where you will meet him. You can also contact him at 703-864-0802 cell phone only after 0900 on Thursday morning.
