(8 Oct - Lack of interest meant it was better to postpone this trip until next year - and do better publicity - and plan with other clubs. Too late in the year, perhaps? We found only one other of our Mid Atlantic clubs headed out for this "Mega Release" - the KCCNY.) ///// We are taking a paddling group to the 12/13 October release on the Lehigh River in NE Pennsylvania, camping in the nearby Hickory Run State Park. We shall miss the initial 2,500 cfs mega-release, catching the river at 1,500 on Saturday and a lower section [Rockport down] at 1,000 on Sunday. It's a three plus hour drive up there (see White Haven, Pa) and we'll be taking off from the commuter parking lot off I-270 at Urbana, MD at 9:00 Saturday, returning on Sunday evening.
This is a lower intermediate run (Knipling) - or challenging intermediate/easy advanced (Gertler), in the league of Bloomington release, Cassleman, and the Staircase.
Please contact us soonest if interested, so we can set up the trip -and reserve campsites together - John's big white van will make the shuttles easy.
