The CCA Board met virtually April 22. The full minutes have been posted on the CCA website (Members Only > Documents > Meeting Minutes). Here are some highlights, from minutes taken by Secretary Jen Sass:

Present: Hugh Hilliard (Chair), Jen Sass (Secretary), Ginny DeSeau (Membership Director), Marilyn Jones (Treasurer), Susan Sherrod, Alf Cooley, Lynn Miller, Barb Brown, Tim Lapham, Grace Hassler, Risa Shimoda, Ed Gertler, Gary Steinberg, Ryan Morrow, Kathleen Sengstock, Rolo Arrieta, Dean Hawes

[There were updates by Hugh on sewage spill-related water and sediment testing, Risa on Downriver Race planning, and Kathleen on the April 18 cleanup. See the articles on those matters in this Cruiser.]

Insurance/Liability Issues - Hugh

Hugh has been investigating options for directors and officers (D&O) Insurance and general liability insurance. The insurance broker recommended that we have D&O insurance, with prices ranging around $1K/year. Hugh will move forward with D&O insurance at this time. The general liability insurance is a bit more complicated; it is less likely that we will move forward with that, but Hugh is still exploring options. If anyone knows more about relevant club insurance issues, please reach out to Hugh. Hugh also explored alternatives to the ACA insurance that we currently use for certain events but did not identify any viable options.

Treasurer's Report - Marilyn

As of March 31, our net operating value was $2,650.90. Income was $12,306.56, and expenses were

$9,655.66. Upcoming expenses will be Roster printing and mailing, race T-shirts, and River Riders access

fee, which will total approximately $5,300. In April, we paid out $2,250 in conservation donations per the Board's recommendations; these payments are not part of the net operating value calculation.

Schedule of Events for 2026 - Lynn

There is a new event set for June 7, combined with Team River Runner (TRR). Tom Hackman is the lead. It will be held at Rileys Lock, with some paddling and a picnic.

Safety - Tim

We have had an offer from a local swiftwater rescue instructor to put on a level 3 one-day class,

or a level 4 two-day class. Tim is working out the details.

Next meeting: Monday, June 29
