Low and Dry Times Offer Views of Seldom-Seen Features

Whitehorse Rapid at low level
Yellow Falls at low level

If all these rocks don't look familiar, try adding some water! Local rivers have been quite low since early August. The photos show Whitehorse Rapid on the Potomac just below Harpers Ferry Oct. 29 (1.42 feet on the Millville gage, 845 cfs on the Shepherdstown gage), and Yellow Falls on the Potomac mid-way from Anglers to Lock 10 Nov. 20 (2.74 on the Little Falls gage). See the CCA Trip Reports page for a description of the Anglers-to-Lock-10 paddle (spoiler alert: "as low a level as any of us want to experience").
