This week’s Sunday trip will again be the George Washington Canal. The predicted Little Falls gage is 2.8’ which is getting scrapey. The morning weather forecast is a temperature in the mid 60, partially cloudy with 0% chance of rain. This is a class II- trip.

PFDs are required for all. Helmets are required for kayakers using spray skirts and highly recommended for all others. Airbags are strongly encouraged for boats without other means of flotation. If you need safety equipment, please advise the trip coordinator.

We will paddle the loop (from Violette Lock to GW canal and returning back to Violette Lock using the C&O canal at Block House Point). Please note that the takeout on the Potomac at Blockhouse Point can be challenging due to the steep grade up from the river to the towpath and canal, and also due to the muddy shoreline at times. Those of you who need or prefer to set shuttle from Riley’s Lock to Pennyfield Lock, where there are boat ramps, please let me know also. I will put the 'shuttle paddlers' in contact with each other, so they can organize their trip.
