About this event
On Wednesday evening we will paddle a run from Anglers to Carder Rock. The sun is still setting before 8PM, which doesn’t leave enough daylight to make it down to our normal Lock 10 takeout. This run will give us a chance to play in the Offutt waves (the water level should be high enough) and yellow falls. This is a great chance to surf, practice attaining, and work on those combat rolls. Or just enjoy a trip down the river, whatever floats your boat (so to speak).
We’ll meet in the Carder Rock parking (on the left when coming into the park) at 6:00PM where we can work out the shuttles up to Old Anglers Inn. The water level is predicted to be well into the 3 feet range, which should be pretty good for this run.
PFDs are required for all. Helmets are required for kayakers using spray skirts and highly recommended for all others. Airbags are strongly encouraged for boats without other means of flotation. If you need safety equipment, please advise the trip coordinator in advance. And finally, be prepared for the predicted temperature for that time of day and bring plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.
If you are interested in joining us, please contact Dean Hawes at dean@haweslink.net, especially if this is your first time on this run. Last minute paddlers are welcome as well, but please arrive at the meeting spot by 6:00 PM. I will send out a status email around lunch time on Wednesday to those who notify me they are going.
