North Branch of the Potomac, Barnum to Bloomington (Bloomington Dam Release)

I am scheduled to lead a BRV (CCA also welcome) Bloomington trip this weekend, but it may just be for one rather than both days (the dam will be releasing both days). If there is sufficient interest, I would be willing to camp out or stay in a motel out there on Saturday night in order to run both days; I would ask anyone who is interested in coming on this trip to please contact me to indicate 1) whether they are interested in just a single day (and if so, which one), or 2) for both days. My preference is for just a 1-day trip; the three persons who have contacted me so far have indicated a slight preference for a 1-day trip and for it to be on Saturday. As the trip involves a ~3-hour drive for me to get there, if we decide on Saturday, I may decide to be virtuous and head up there Friday afternoon (or Saturday afternoon if the trip is just for Sunday), instead of my driving up there the morning of the trip. Accordingly, I would ask interested persons to contact me, either by email or telephone, prior to Friday afternoon for a Saturday trip or prior to Saturday afternoon for a Sunday trip. It is important to note that I DO NOT HAVE A CELL PHONE, nor a laptop, so contacting me needs to be while I am still at home, with access to my computer and my landline phone (see below).

At this point, then, I am tentatively picking SATURDAY and would ask participants to meet at the Bloomington takeout (sewage treatment facility at the base of Owens Ave.) at 11:00 AM on Saturday. This will allow time to transfer boats, leave cars, and head up to the Barnum put-in, offload boats etc… for an on-water start around Noon. I would expect the run to be completed by ~ 3:00 PM, with a stop for lunch. If, based on the majority preferences, the run is to instead be on Sunday (or if it will be for both days), I will send out another announcement but, for now, assume it will be a 1-day Saturday trip.

This is to be a “standard” 1000 cfs whitewater release. At this level, the trip
