Sunday Paddle - Violettes Lock-GW Canal Loop - 3.2'

Happy July 5th. We are going to do a day after July 4th Sunday paddle on the George Washington canal loop.

For any newcomers, this is a Class I-II trip. We meet at the Violette's Lock parking lot (13948 Violettes Lock Rd, Poolesville MD), cross the Potomac to the George Washington canal on the Virginia side, run the canal, come back across the Potomac and return to Violettes Lock via the flatwater C&O canal, thus avoiding the need for a shuttle. Total trip length is about three miles. PFDs are required for all; helmets are highly recommended, especially for kayakers. If you need safety equipment, please advise. The predicted water level is 3.2' on the Little Falls gauge.

We want to be COVID-19 safe both on the river and off so please review the CCA COVID-19 safety tips if you haven't already done so (they're found on p. 10 in the May/June edition of the Cruiser).
