Kayaking Instruction & River Trip, Class 2/3 Whitewater

Paddling Experience: Minimum – can execute basic strokes (forward, sweep, draw, etc.) on non-moving water.  Preferred – some experience on moving water doing eddy turns, peel-outs, ferries.

Location:  To be announced, within 1.5 hours of the DC area, dependent on water levels. We will paddle and practice skills on a river with Class 2 and maybe easy Class 3 rapids.

Equipment:  Whitewater kayak with floatation, spray-skirt, paddle, coast guard approved PFD, helmet.

Lunch: Bring lunch, water and appropriate clothing for a full day on the river.

Based on curriculum from the American Canoe Association (ACA), this class will help you get comfortable in running and playing rivers with Class 2 and easy Class 3 rapids.  Skill practice will include eddy turns, peel-outs, ferries, potentially surfing & attaining. Look forward to having a great time and learning experience!
