Mike Martin took a group of four down Senea Creek from Black Rock Mill to Berryville Landing checking for stream-wide obstructions - of which there were but two. Along for the ride were Barb & Alf and the main paddler was chief Park ranger John Ford, whose main thought was to get some of his fellow rangers out with power saws later in the season to clear the waterway for family paddles. 183 cfs is double Steve Ettinger's minimum and so a fine level for this trip - almost no scraping. Weather was overcast and on the chill side - say 60 degrees.
Black Rock Mill (1815) is on the less-often paddled Great Seneca Creek, which meets the reservoir-controlled Little Seneca just above the Dawsonville USGS gauge under the MD 28 bridge. Above the mill is the four-foot ledge which provided the head for its water-power - and affords a pleasant Cl. II descent to start off the trip.
