Staircase Feb. 22, 2020, 3.25’, 2400 cfs
Author Last Post

On a sunny Saturday afternoon Mark Brenneman, Rich Conde, Robin Willard, Kent Anderson, and Gary and Ginny Quam joined Peter Ryan for a run down the Staircase. At Bull Falls the log at the bottom of the rock that separates chute 2 and chute 3 is still in place, and protruding several feet into the right side of chute 2. Chute 3 remains open. A drysuit was tested for waterproofness at Bull Falls, and passed with flying colors.

With the gauge at Point of Rocks reading 8500 cfs the water level was high enough for a run to the right of Whitehorse. Several paddlers took this route. The others ran Whitehorse, and noticed little difference in the rapid from lower levels.

Most of the group took out at Potoma Wayside. Rich and Robin continued on to Brunswick.
