Trip Reports

THU PAD - Needles - 25 Oct

We had seven intrepid paddlers out today: Wayne, Vitas, Cory, Jean, Gary & Ginny Q, and myself. No problem at the put in.  The fellow there recognized Vitus.  It was only about 48 degrees so we decided not to eat on the river but beforehand.

Another cerulean sky, sunny and though the temperature was only about 50, it seemed warmer with the sun.  Nothing untoward to report.  The level at Hancock was 4.5 ( I know wrong gauge but I persist in using Grove).  It was not pushy but vigorous.

We saw the mud slide that had has closed the Harper’s Ferry Road.

As the cherry on top, a CSX auto train rumbled by and could be barely seen through the still green foliage as we paddled to the take out.
