Seneca Breaks at 4.2' - and 38 mph Gusts

by John Snitzer -

Four paddlers, Barb, Alf, Lisa W, & John, shook off the constraints of circadian rhythms, Coriolis force, and Van der Waals attraction to fiddle around down Seneca Breaks, LF=4.2'. Three of the early play spots were at nice levels with surfable waves. The rising wind from upstream deterred the planned attainment effort and we were reminded that we are approaching the equinox by the due east view downstream into the rising sun.

The combination of perfect level for working out winter-related kinks and bobbles and a brilliant day made for an exceptional paddle.  Water temp is now up to 50.

The takeout at the transfer point at MP 21 remains slippery. Take care. We did not see it today but the Thursday paddle revealed that the woody debris in the GW canal was reduced by the recent high water. Water level in the C&O has been stable for weeks now and is passable.
